REQUEST FOR BIDS

Sealed bids will be received at the McCracken County Emergency Management Complex until 1:00 p.m. and opened and read aloud at 1:05 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 for the mowing of the closed McCracken County Landfill located off County Park Road.

Scope of work shall include mowing of the closed land fill beginning June 15, 2015 and ending November 30, 2015. Vegetation will be cut to height between 4 and 8 inches and will include weedeating along lined ditch areas. Mowing cycles will be as directed by the County Engineer with a maximum of 3 mowing cycles.

McCracken County Road Department reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

History

McCracken County was founded in 1825, from Hickman County and was named for Captain Virgil McCracken of Woodford County, Kentucky, who was killed in the Battle of Frenchtown in southeastern Michigan during the War of 1812.

The Battle of Paducah occurred in McCracken County on March 25, 1864. The skirmish between the Union and Confederate troops ended in a Confederate victory. Altogether 140 men fell in the battle.
